General Anton Gămurari has died, IPN reports, quoting the General Police Inspectorate that transmitted a message of condolence.
The police remind that a special subdivision was created at the Ministry of Home Affairs by a Government decision on December 5, 1991. The first commander of the Special Police Brigade “Fulger” was police major general Anton Gămurari.
“Today, all the employees of the National Police render homage and light a candle for the soul of the Hero of the Nation who was awarded the Order of the Republic as a result of the Transnistrian conflict. We offer our compassion to the family and close ones over this huge loss,” says the message.
Anton Gămurari had headed the Special Police Brigade “Fulger” since its founding until 1997. His personality is associated with the victories of those who were killed in the Transnistrian conflict.
Anton Gămurari was born in Chisinau on August 15, 1950.
