The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova transmitted a message of condolencein connection with theearthquake that happened in Turkey and Syria in the morning of February 6, IPN reports.
“We follow attentively the tragic news in Turkey and Syria, which were both affected by a disastrous earthquake. In the name of the Republic of Moldova, we express our most sincere condolences to the families of victims and wish a speedy recovery to those hurt,” said Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria early Monday, toppling buildings and killing over 200 people. With hundreds injured, the toll is expected to rise as rescue workers have searched the rubble in cities and towns across the area.
