Global agricultural production in farms of all categories increased by 5.5% in the first six months of 2024, compared to the same period of 2023. Crop production grew by 13%, while livestock production – by 4.4 percent, IPN reports, referring to data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
For the 2024 harvest, the farms of all categories sowed 1.560,8 million ha or by 22,500 ha (1.4%) less than in 2023. The agricultural enterprises account for 885,500 ha or 57% of the entire sown area of the country.
Most of the areas sown by agricultural enterprises are those with sugar beet – 92% of the total area sown with this crop, autumn rapeseed – 87%, corn for silage and green mass – 83%, wheat – 78%, barley – 74%, etc.
At the same time, domestic farms and farmers account for 96% of the areas planted with potatoes, 94% of the areas sown with Cucurbitaceae crops, 93% of the areas planted with field vegetables, etc.
In the same period, the livestock sector expanded by 10.1% in farms of all categories due to the 17.7% increase in production at agricultural enterprises. At the same time, livestock production in domestic farms decreased by 1.8%.
Milk production in farms of all categories declined by 1.3% following a 4.9% decrease in domestic farms. At the same time, milk production at agricultural enterprises grew by 18.8%.
Egg production in farms of all categories fell by 10.5% as a result of the 19.8% decrease in egg production in domestic farms.
An increase in the number of animals (except for dairy cows) was recorded at agricultural enterprises on July 1, 2024, compared to the same date of the previous year. At the same time, in domestic farms livestock decreased in the case of all species (except pigs).
