Sixteen articulated buses “Solaris Urbino 18”, which were purchased by the Chisinau City Hall at the end of 2022, are being technically tested and will be soon be son put on routes in the capital city, IPN reports.
Mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the Swedish buses have low floor, ramps for wheelchair access, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, GPS and video surveillance systems.
A bus was bought for €41,900 with delivery costs included.
According to the mayor, the buses will run on the most crowded routes in the municipality of Chisinau, while a part of those buses will be directed to routes that go to the suburbs.
In 2020-2022, the Chisinau City Hall purchased 174 buses and 85 trolleybuses for the inhabitants of Chisinau and its suburbs. The Urban Bus Company runs a total of 207 units of transport.
