Since the withdrawal of their licenses, in the period between October 2015 and March 31, 2023, Banca de Economii (BEM) Banca Socială and Unibank collected a total of 2,850,887.8 lei, IPN reports.
In November 2014 – October 2015, the National Bank of Moldova offered the three banks emergency loans under state guarantee, in the total amount of 14,121,758.0 lei.
Both the money available in the accounts of the three banks when the licenses were withdrawn and the money collected later by liquidators goes to cover costs associated with the liquidation process and to repay the emergency loans.
In the second quarter of this year, the liquidators of the three banks had a number of auctions to sell bank assets and confiscated property. They continue taking measures to recover the loaned money and cooperate with the investigation bodies and the legal bodes and also with the debtors so that the loans raised from these banks and the loans provided by the National Bank to them are fully repaid, the central bank said in a press release.
