Thirty-three persons were operated for cerebral vascular accident last year, with the costs being covered with mandatory health insurance funds. The National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) for the given surgeries allocated over 4 million lei, almost 3 million lei of which went on expensive consumables – modern medical devices used in stroke surgery, IPN reports.
The surgeries for stroke are minimally-invasive and are performed with last-generation technology.
Such operations are performed by two national public institutions contracted by CNAM – the Emergency Medicine Institute and “Diomid Gherman” Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Within six hours of the appearance of symptoms, the patients with acute ischemic stroke in the hospital were administered costly antithrombotic medicines under the international common name Alteplasum, to the total value of over 1 million lei.
