The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists prepared a statement on the ascertaining of the undermining of the rule of law and usurpation of state power in the Republic of Moldova. In the relevant draft decision, the MPs criticized the current government and formulated a number of demands, including the lifting of the state of emergency, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, said the statement is practically similar to the one adopted in 2019, by which the state capture was ascertained. “It is based practically on the same noxious phenomena and practices. A group of citizens, a political party practically undermined the Constitution and the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova. We refer in particular to the state of emergency under which the Republic of Moldova has lived for almost two years and through which the Commission for Exceptional Situations took over the Parliament’s, the executive’s and the judiciary’s duties,” stated the MP.
By this statement, the BCS condemns the lack of professionalism and of responsibility of the government representatives who manage the state affairs and pleads for restoring the supremacy of the law and for observing the basic human rights of the country’s citizens.
The Communists and Socialists demand to lift the state of emergency, to return to the management of the state based on the constitutional principle of separation of powers in the state and to stop interfering in the work of the judiciary.
Vlad Batrîncea said the government should return to the dialog with the parties of the parliamentary opposition and the extraparliamentary parties. The statement was compiled in coordination with parties from outside the legislative body, including the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova that is led by ex-Premier Ion Chicu, who instituted the state of emergency.
In the Parliament sitting, Vlad Batrîncea proposed introducing the draft decision in the agenda, but the proposal garnered only 20 votes and was this way rejected.
