For the 20th time, Ion Dosca has won the title of national checkers champion. The international grandmaster defeated all his contenders and secured his victory one round before the final, IPN reports.
Master Ion Dosca also holds such titles as world champion, champion of the USSR and the U.S., vice champion at the first World Mind Sports Games held in Beijing in 2008.
International grandmaster Denis Dudco, who medalled for multiple times at World Championships, ranked second. The bronze medal was won by multiple women’s world champion Elena Scovitina.
At the end of April, the national squad will compete in the European Checkers (Draughts-64) Championship in Turkey.
