A 46-year-old man from Ocnița was sentenced to 11 years in jail for repeatedly raping the 12-year-old daughter of his concubine. It happened during a year and a half and the last abuse was committed one day before the man was arrested, in June 2022. The prosecution intends to challenge the sentence as too mild, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases.
The sexual assault took place in the periods during which the victim’s mother was in the hospital and the girl was in the care of the convict. The woman later found out about the happenings, but didn’t inform the responsible authorities. The prosecutors asked for life for the man as he raped and also subject the girl to acts of a perverse sexual character, using force.
The convict was later charged on the third count as the police officers and prosecutors during searches at his home found a gun made in Russia and 40 cartridges that were illegally held.
Even if the man didn’t cooperate with the authorities, the accumulated evidence proves his blame. The prosecutors announced their intention to dispute the sentence in the Balti Appeals Court.
