The Supreme Council of Tiraspol has concluded its eighth session with an unprecedented duration of 9 months, due to the state of emergency in the economy. The regime was not extended and therefore ended on June 8th, as reported by IPN.
The session started on September 4, 2024 and was not interrupted in December, as it had happened before. This is because a state of emergency was declared at the end of the year, due to the reduction of gas supply to the Transnistrian region. The state of emergency was extended five times.
The problems in Transnistria persist: gas stations ran out of methane after June 6th, hot water was interrupted in the region until June 18th, and salary payments for teachers will be made in installments.
According to recent reports from IPN, the energy crisis that broke out in the Transnistrian region at the beginning of this year has become a trigger for a financial crisis, and the first signs of this are already being recorded by the administration of the leader in Tiraspol. The IPN agency correspondents were informed about this by at least three sources: representatives from Vadim Krasnoselski’s administration, local banking structures, and the so-called government in Tiraspol.
