Moldovan athlete Ion Basoc won a silver medal at the International Para Judo Championship. The competition was held in the city of Astana in Kazakhstan, IPN reports.
The Moldovan athlete climbed on to the winner’s rostrum in the +95 kg weight category, after a final against Brazil’s Willans da Silva de Araujo, the same opponent who defeated him in the final of the Paris Paralympic Games in 2024.
This is the second world medal for Ion Basoc, after the bronze clinched in 2023.
At the competition, the Republic of Moldova was also represented by athletes Vadim Cretul, Nicolai Bondarev and Ina Cernei, together with coaches Vitalie Gligor and Oleg Cretul.
