Of 23 election contenders, five do not have clear electoral programs

Of the 23 election contenders, 18 take part in the parliamentary elections with a structured electoral program, while five do not have a clear electoral program. Six of the 18 contenders have a succinct electoral offer, of one-two pages. These are PACE, Shor Party, PUN, AUR, Moldova’s Patriots Party and the “New Historical Option” Party. The largest and best-structured programs are those of the Civic Congress – 68 pages, PAS – 45 pages and BeCS – 44 pages, shows an analysis of the list of candidates for MP running in the snap parliamentary elections that was published on alegeri.md, IPN reports.

By the territorial-administrative representation, only two parties have candidates who represent most of the 36 territorial-administrative units of the country. These are the Shor Party and the Party of Action and Solidarity, which has candidates in 31 territorial-administrative units. At the other pole, there is the People Power Party that has candidates in 10 territorial-administrative units.

According to the analysis, all the election contenders respected the gender quota when compiling the lists of candidates. In total, of the 1,790 candidates, 46.6% are women, while 53.4% are men. Moldova’s Patriots Party (PPM) holds the lead as regards the representation of women on the lists – 60% of the 55 candidates are women. The lists of the Common Acton – Civic Congress Party and of the Party “Democracy at Home” (PPDA) contain the largest number of male candidates.

A total of 1,790 persons have a median age of 43. Most of the candidates are aged between 36 and 50, being followed by those aged between 18 and 35. The People Power Party has the youngest candidates, whose median age is 35. The list of the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists (BeCS) includes the oldest candidates, with an average age of 51. The youngest candidates are 18 (four persons), while oldest candidates are 82 (three candidates), being placed on less eligible places, except for the 80-year-old candidate from the BeCS’s list, who is under No. 12. The youngest candidate represents Moldova’s Patriots Party, while the oldest one represents the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”.

Except for the candidates who live in Chisinau (794 persons), most of the candidates are from northern Moldova – 388. Among the candidates, there are 37 inhabitants of ATU Gagauzia, while 14 are from the Transnistrian region. The Party of Regions of Moldova has nine candidates from ATU Gagauzia, while four are from the Transnistrian region.

The Central Election Commission approved the last changes to the lists of candidates on June 28. The Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT analyzed all the lists of candidates according to gender, age, urban-rural, regional and territorial-administrative representation, declared average income, political experience and party switching.
