By 6:00 PM, more than 1.06 million Moldovans showed up at the 1,950 polling stations opened for the general local elections, or 38.29% of the total eligible voters. In Chisinau, the 6:00 PM turnout was 238,000 voters, or 36.56%.
Women continue to be more active than men, with a ratio of 55.31% to 44.69%. Voters aged 56-65 remain the most active, their representativeness being almost 23.35%. The least active groups are people over 76 years old, with 5.22%, and young people aged 18-25 years, with 5.78%.
Local elections in a constituency are considered valid if at least 1/4 of the number of eligible voters participate.
More than 2.7 million voters are expected at the polls today. Polling stations are open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
