Prime MinisterDorin Recean on Thursday requested the resignation of Victor Parlicov from the position of Minister of Energy. He also sought the resignation of Victor Bînzari from the post of director of JSC Energocom and of Sergiu Tofilat from the position of member of the Supervisory Board of JSC Moldovagaz. The announcement was made at a news conference held in the Government Building, IPN reports.
The head of the executive explained that he requested the resignation of the three officials in connection with the situation in the energy sector. According to him, these persons either blocked or did not act at the right time to purchase gas at the best price. Instead of looking for culprits and shifting blame and responsibility onto each other, their task was to provide the country with gas at the right time.
“I asked for Victor Parlicov’s resignation because he was responsible for the management of the energy sector and he made mistakes that plunged us into a crisis situation,” said Dorin Recean.
The resignation of the general manager of Energocom was requested on the grounds that the company did not purchase gas when possible, invoking bureaucratic procedures. In this way, they did not secure the necessary gas amounts for the winter period at the most advantageous prices.
Referring to Sergiu Tofilat, the official said that although Tofilat, as a member of the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz, did not have powers, he blocked the purchase of gas by the responsible institutions when the price was the best.
Premier Recean also said that he asked the Public Property Agency to convene the General Assembly of Shareholders as swiftly as possible in order to appoint a new member of the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz.
“Here I want to ask and invite civil society to propose a new member of the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz. At the same time, the Supervisory Board must implement as soon as possible the results of the contest regarding the new management of Moldovagaz,” stated Dorin Recean.
