Six localities in Moldova have received fire trucks donated by Poland

Last year, six localities in Moldova were equipped with emergency fire intervention vehicles, to enhance the safety of local communities. The vehicles were donated by the Wielkopolska voivodeship, and their transportation to the country took place with the support of the European Union and the Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, within the framework of the “EU4Moldova Resilient: Safe State, Strong Communities” project, reports IPN.

The vehicles have reached the localities of Calinesti in the Falesti district, Gura Bacului in the Anenii Noi district, Sofia in the Drochia district, Pepeni in the Sangerei district, Carpineni in the Hancesti district, and Sireti in the Straseni district, where volunteer firefighter and rescue stations are operating or are set to be opened.

“We are pleased to be able to support the development of local emergency services and strengthen solidarity among communities”, mentioned Krzysztof Grabowski, vice-marshal of the Wielkopolska voivodship.

At the same time, through the “EU4Moldova Resilience: Safe State, Strong Communities” project, ten localities receive grants for the construction from scratch of voluntary firefighter and rescue stations, while nine other localities – for the renovation of existing stations.

“Through the synergy of these interventions, local communities receive a complete support package – special vehicles, modern infrastructure, and equipment for firefighters – which allow the strengthening of the activities of volunteer firefighter brigades at the local level”, declared Iwona Piórko, the EU ambassador in Moldova.

From 2021 to the present, Solidarity Fund PL has contributed to equipping ten localities with intervention vehicles. Through the “EU4Moldova Resilience” project, the European Union invests over 44 million lei in the development of the civil protection system in Moldova.
