Russia refuses Christmas truce and prepares harsh attacks, warns Zelensky

Russia has rejected the idea of a Christmas truce, proposed by the US as a diplomatic signal for the start of peace negotiations in Ukraine, announced the leader in Kiev, Volodymyr Zelensky. Moreover, he mentioned that he has information suggesting that Moscow is preparing massive attacks during the holiday period, reports IPN.

The announcement was made by Volodymyr Zelensky in a speech in Kyiv on the occasion of Ambassadors’ Day. The Ukrainian leader said that the US, as a mediator, expressed its initiative to introduce a Christmas truce not as a definitive end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, but as a gesture of goodwill that could pave the way for diplomacy, according to Suspilne.

The nature of the Kremlin’s actions indicates that it is preparing for a “specific Christmas terror attack”, warned Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the president, December 23, 24 and 25 are the days with the highest risk of massive missile and drone strikes.

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stated last week that Moscow refuses a Christmas truce, because in his opinion, Peskov, it gives Ukraine a break to prepare for the continuation of the war.
