Starting from September 1st, consumers will pay 20.30 lei for a cubic meter of natural gas, 5.88 lei more than the current price of 14.42 lei. The new tariff was approved on Friday by the National Agency for Energy Regulation for the gas supplied by Energocom to certain categories of end consumers, reports IPN.

For consumers connected to low-pressure distribution networks, ANRE has set a regulated price of 18,798 lei per thousand cubic meters, excluding VAT.

ANRE states that the main cause of the increase is the rising cost of procuring natural gas. The calculation of the new price took into account the evolution and volatility of quotations on European markets, the approach of the cold season, and the need to replenish stocks for the 2026-2027 season. The Agency also considered the competition for available volumes of liquefied natural gas and the limited availability of some supply sources.

The cost considered by ANRE not only includes the purchase price of the gas, but also the expenses for transport, injection, storage and extraction from deposits, as well as other logistics costs up to the border of the Republic of Moldova.

ANRE specifies that the regulated expenses of Energocom directly related to the supply service have remained unchanged. These have been maintained at the level of those included in the current prices and are estimated at 108.5 million lei for the period August-December 2026.

According to the Agency, maintaining the current gas price for end consumers in the context of rising procurement costs would lead to the accumulation of additional losses for the supplier. The approved adjustment would allow for the cessation of these deviations and the recovery of costs for the period August-December.
