New rules for the selection of deputy directors in schools: positions will be filled through competition

AnnouncementExtern

The deputy directors of general education institutions will be selected through competition, based on the new provisions of the Education Code. The Ministry of Education and Research announces that the current employment contracts of the deputy directors will cease from Monday, September 7, and until the organization of the competitions, the functions will be ensured by interim managers, reports IPN.

MEC states that the new provisions target deputy directors appointed for more than five years, as well as those employed indefinitely. The Ministry recommends that the interim be taken over by the same person whose employment contract has ended. If the situation of the institution requires the designation of another person, the director will have to justify his decision.

In the next six months, schools are set to organize competitions for filling the vacant positions of deputy director, based on the regulations approved by the Ministry. According to the authorities, at the time of the legislative changes adoption, over 65% of the deputy directors of general education institutions were appointed without competition. Among them, almost 39% were employed indefinitely, while 27% were acting in an interim capacity.
