Ukraine has agreed to increase by approximately 20% the water flow discharged from the Novodnestrovsk hydroelectric complex, in the context of the difficult situation on the upper course of the Dniester. The agreement was reached during a discussion between Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmyhal, reports IPN.
According to Prime Minister Tofan, the increase in flow rate is important for the localities in the Republic of Moldova that depend on the water from the Nistru.
Officials also discussed cooperation in the field of natural gas and electricity. The discussions will continue in Kiev, where Vasile Tofan is due to make a visit at the end of October.
The Prime Minister stated that he agreed with his Ukrainian counterpart to maintain constant contact and coordinate the necessary measures to respond to challenges in the energy and hydrological fields.
