Inter-regional travels are getting more expensive again. Starting from Friday, the National Auto Transport Agency has set a provisional ceiling rate of 1.19 lei per kilometer for a passenger, 3 cents more than the previous rate, reports IPN.
According to ANTA, the new fare for regular road transport services in inter-regional traffic was calculated based on the average price of diesel over the last seven days. From September 18-24, it was 36.43 lei per liter, 1.45 lei higher than the previous week, according to data published by the National Agency for Energy Regulation.
Thus, compared to the previous rate of 1.16 lei/km, a trip from Chisinau to Orhei, over a distance of about 50 kilometers, can become more expensive by approximately 1.5 lei, and up to Rezina, over a distance of about 90 kilometers – by 2.7 lei. For a trip to Cahul, about 160 kilometers, the price increase can be 4.8 lei, and up to Briceni, about 250 kilometers – the price will increase by 7.5 lei.
The increase in transportation costs is happening against the backdrop of a steady rise in fuel prices. The head of the National Crisis Management Center, Serghei Diaconu, previously stated that authorities are considering the possibility that fuel prices may exceed the threshold of 40 lei per liter.
