Three public servants of the North Technical Surveillance Unit of the Technical Surveillance Agencyand a businessman were arrested for influence peddling and passive corruption as a result of searches. These are suspected of planning in collusion a scheme to illegally release documents needed for authorizing finished constructions for use, IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, the three servants asked and received money from private individuals and legal entities for signing the final authorization reports without a detailed analysis of the building works and related installations. It was determined that the servants illegally signed such reports for sums varying between 5,000 and 15,000 lei.
On Tuesday morning, anticorruption prosecutors and officers performed 13 searches in offices, homes and cars of a number of persons involved in this case, including the four aforementioned persons. There were seized 300,000 lei and €3,200, whose origin is to be determined, documents, mobile phones, computers, hard disks, memory sticks, CDs and flash-cards.
