The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova has issued a travel alert for the Russian Federation, citing a deterioration of the security situation in the region and reports of restrictive measures being applied to foreign citizens, including Moldovans, reports IPN.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns that there have been cases where Russian authorities have detained citizens at border crossing points or during raids on Russian territory. Additionally, there have been reported instances of arbitrary application of legislation, transfers to pre-trial detention centers, including the Multifunctional Migration Center, as well as administrative sanctions or criminal charges without clear evidence presented.
On this note, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow, recommends avoiding non-essential travel to Russia.
In addition, Moldovan citizens who are already in the Russian Federation and are facing an emergency situation can contact the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow by calling the emergency hotline at +7 929 964 9079.
