Twenty delegations will arrive in Moldova for EPC Summit today

Twenty delegations that will take part in the European Political Community Summit will arrive in Moldova today, May 31. Among the officials are the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council Charles Michel and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borell, Vice-President of the European Commission, as well as the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Prime Ministers of Belgium, Portugal, Georgia, Liechtenstein, Armenia, Malta, Albania, Luxemburg, Iceland, Ireland, Andorra, and North Macedonia, IPN reports.

The Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă told a news conference that President Maia Sandu starts to meet the guests in Bulboaca at 10am. The foreign officials will make statements for the press at the Mimi Castle. The official opening of the summit begins at 12 noon and will last for 30 minutes. At the end, the European leaders will take a family picture. Later, there will be held roundtable meetings that will center on security, energy and connectivity. In the afternoon, bilateral meetings will be held. The summing up conference is given at 5pm by President Sandu and European leaders.

In another development, the official said that the menu for the event was tested by the best culinary critics. “The dishes will be prepared exclusively from national products so as to emphasize the authenticity and quality of our ingredients. Moldova is proud of its agrifood products and the leaders at the summit will be able to see this,” said Daniel Vodă. He noted that the guests will be served such traditional dishes as minced meat in cabbage rolls, dumplings and hominy with cheese. The preferences of the guests were taken into account for the entrée. The traditional cake “Baba neagră” will be served for dessert.

Daniel Vodă also said that events involving European officials have been scheduled for today. At 5pm, Maia Sandu gives a news conference together with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Later, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borell takes part in the official launch of the new European Union Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova. Also, medical and engineering equipment bought through the European Peace Facility will be officially handed over to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova.
