A meeting involving PAS MPs, members of the Cabinet and President Maia Sandu was held on Wednesday evening, IPN reports. The participants reportedly discussed the replacement of a number of ministers, but a final decision was not taken, ProTV and Infotag said, with reference to sources within the ruling party.
The sources noted that the meeting supposedly agreed that Adrian Efros, who was appointed Minister of the Interior in July 2023, will be replaced by Sergei Diaconu, the current adviser to the Prime Minister.
Diaconu held various positions before joining Dorin Recean’s Cabinet, including of secretary general of the Ministry of the Interior.
“These are not final decisions yet. Discussions continue to find solutions that can increase the efficiency of the executive power,” said the interlocutors.
ProTV contacted Diaconu for details, but he said that he could not comment “as long as Mr. Recean has not made the official announcements.”
At the beginning of this week, it became known that Cabinet reshuffles would be announced by the end of the week. However, Prime Minister Dorin Recean recently said that he will make the announcements at a press conference on Monday, November 18.
