Students of China Agricultural Universitywill be able to study at the Technical University of Moldova, including the winemaking and winegrowing specialties. For China, winemaking and winegrowing hold interest. The areas of vineyards have been extended considerably in China and they need well-trained specialists. The Republic of Moldova can also train staff for them, the rector of the Technical University Viorel Bostan stated in the ceremony to sign a memorandum between the Technical University of Moldova and China Agricultural University owing to which the exchange of students became possible, IPN reports.
According to the rector, joint research is another cooperation direction that became possible due to this memorandum, but the interaction will also be extended to other areas, such as the environment, engineering, IT, design and architecture. “China is a very well developed country. We can borrow from them digital technologies in agronomy, in engineering. Everyone knows that this country made a significant leap in development,” said Viorel Bostan. He noted that the war in Ukraine closed the education market in Russia and hampered access to the education market in Ukraine and the Moldovan Universities should profit from the opportunity and attract students from other countries.
China’s Ambassador to Moldova Yan Wenbin said that agriculture for China, as for Moldova, is the main sector of the economy. The signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the two universities is an important accomplishment in the cooperation between China and Moldova in education. It can increase mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations and can give new impetuses to the bilateral relations between the two countries. “The Embassy of China in the Republic of Moldova and my person will continue to offer active assistance in further extending exchanges and in ensuring better cooperation between the two universities,” stated the ambassador.
Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală voiced hope that the signing of this memorandum will strengthen cooperation between the two universities and will ensure exchanges of students and researches and the implementation of joint projects and research. “We will support the Technical University to develop the faculties that were absorbed from the Agrarian University of Moldova. This year we will announce a new contest of projects for universities, as we did last year. Among the areas that will be supported are the agricultural sciences,” stated the minister.
Sun Qixin, president of China Agricultural University, said that the Technical University of Moldova is a leading institution in engineering in Moldova and its Faculty of Food Technology is the largest educational center in the field of food industry in Moldova, while its research in winemaking holds a leading position worldwide.
