The persons who died in the accident that happened in Bahmut village on Friday evening are members of the same family. These are the girl aged several months, her parents and grandmother. The girl who was transported by the Aviasan Service to Chisinau is the second child of the couple who died, while the man who is under intensive care in Călărași is the girl’s grandfather. The details were provided by the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, which is handling this case.
As the car was driven by a prosecutor, legal action was taken by the acting prosecutor general and the investigation will be conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases by constituting an investigation group consisting of prosecutors and investigating officers of different subdivisions, who will determine the circumstances of the case.
The accident occurred on the R-1 road in Bahmut village of Călărași district on Friday evening. A car struck a cart from behind. The driver was subject to a breathalyzer test and this was negative.
Legal action was taken over violation of the traffic rules by a person who caused the death of a number of persons out of imprudence. Remand detention is to be asked for the driver.
The 63-year-old grandfather is under intensive care at the Călărași District Hospital. The four-year-old girl is in a coma at the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau.
