Alfred Kammer, Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund, will visit Chișinău during March 8-10.
The IMF oficial will hold meetings with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the ministers in charge of economic and energy management and the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova Octavian Armașu.
Alfred Kammer will discuss with the Modlovan officials the challenges the country is facing and the strong partnership between the IMF and Moldova.
The current IMF program with Moldova has a duration of 40 months and was approved on December 21, 2021. In May 2022, the total volume of lending was increased to about 826 million dollars (SDR 594.3 million), of which $287.2 million (SDR 206.6 million) has already been disbursed. Financing under the Extended Credit Facility comes with zero interest, a grace period of five and a half years and a repayment term of ten years, and financing under the Extended Financing Facility comes with an annual interest rate equal to the base interest rate for SDR, a repayment term of ten years and a grace period of four and a half years.
Meanwhile, an IMF mission led by Ruben Atoyan is in Chisinau during March 1-14 for a third evaluation of the ECF-EFF program.
