Judges in the first three months of this year imposed fines and ordered seizures totaling 49 million lei in criminal cases sent to court by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (APO), IPN reports.
The APO noted that the amount of 49 million lei is to be confiscated in the interests of the state and the citizens as a result of convictions in cases of corruption and related cases.
The amount of fines and seizures for the first three months of the year is higher than the total amount for the last four years. For example, in 2020, the value of fines and seizures was 8.6 million lei. The amount gradually increased to 12.5 million lei in 2023.
