Igor Grosu: Natalia Gavrilița is PAS’ candidate for PM

Natalia Gavrilița is the Party of Action and Solidarity’s candidate for premiership, the party’s acting president Igor Grosu announced in a TV program, being quoted by IPN.

The MP also said that Parliament will come together next week to give a vote of confidence to the Cabinet so that the Government starts work as soon as possible.

Igor Grosu admitted that a mistake was made in the July 29 sitting of Parliament. It was decided that 8 of the 12 places on the Parliament’s Standing Bureau will be occupied by PAS MPs. The BECS MPs announced that they will challenge the decision in the Constitutional Court as the structure of the Standing Bureau does not reflect the parliamentary groups in a proportional way.

“After the sitting, I asked the colleagues to analyze once again, to do some calculations. I admit that a mistake was made. I tell those from BECS that we will soon return to this subject and will make all the necessary corrections. If need be, we will name one more member on behalf of the PCRM-PSRM bloc at the next sitting,” Igor Grosu stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

He also said that PAS wouldn’t have accepted a representative of the Shor Party to hold the post of a Deputy Speaker.

“There are particular red lines that we will no way cross. In the case of this party, we will not accept something like this, assuming the risk that some of the people will criticize us. Our voters wouldn’t have understood us,” stated Igor Grosu.

Under the law, after the parliamentary groups are constituted, the President nominates a candidate for Prime Minister. The Premier designate has 15 days to form the governmental team and to work out the government program for which the Cabinet will ask for a vote of confidence from Parliament. The Cabinet is invested by the votes of at least 51 MPs.
