The presidential administration follows attentively the developments in ATU Gagauzia and banks on constructive cooperation with the local government. “We want the people in Gagauzia to have a better life, as we want a better life for all the citizens of our country. Our goal is for each locality to benefit from development and economic growth opportunities,” President Maia Sandu stated in a working meeting with the administration of UTA Gagauz-Yeri headed by Bashkan Irina Vlah, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, the interlocutors discussed the necessity of working out an efficient concept for the study of the Romanian and Gagauz languages in the region so that the young people in Gagauzia feel fully integrated into society after they graduate school.
President Sandu urged the representatives of the local public administration of Gagauzia to support the reforms started in the country, primarily in the justice sector and to fight corruption. She reminded of the need to strengthen society and not to encroach upon citizens’ democratic freedoms.
Maia Sandu said that she will pay a visit to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia immediately after the process of constituting the working bodies of the recently elected People’s Assembly is over.
