A driver lost 150 thousand lei worth of goods because he couldn’t produce documents of origin

A Moldovan man was left without goods worth about 150 thousand lei, after he was stopped in traffic by a mobile team of the Customs Service and could not present documents proving the origin of the goods transported, IPN reports.

The young man, aged 29, was traveling with a minibus on the Chisinau-Leuseni route, when he was stopped for checks by officers of the mobile teams of the Customs. During the check, the customs officers discovered sports clothing, tires and power tools in the vehicle, for which the driver could not produce documents of origin.

The goods have been seized and may be confiscated if the court so decides, and the driver risks a fine for smuggling goods of foreign origin into the customs territory of the Republic of Moldova.
