The national football team of Moldovadefeated the similar squad of Latvia 2-1 in the last but one match of the 2022-2023 UEFA Nations League played in Riga, IPN reports.
The team trained by Sergiu Kleshchenko scored both of the goals in the first half of the game through Ioan-Călin Revenco and Ion Nicolaescu, both after a head kick. Even without Oleg Rebchuk, who was sidelined by injury, and Vadim Rață, who was suspended, on the field, Moldova was stripped of a penalty kick when the score was 0-1 following a clear foul on Nikita Moțpan right before the eyes of UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, who was in the stands of Skonto Stadium. After the break, Latvia scored the goal of honor through Janis Ikaunieks.
Moldova manager Sergiu Kleshchenko used the following players: Chelyadnik, Armaș, Posmac, Ionița (c), Moțpan (Cociuc 84), Nicolaescu (Postolachi 73), Damașcan (Cojocaru 90+4), Kaymakov, Craciun, S.Platica (Jardan 84), Revenco.
Moldova scored 10 points and can force the qualification for League C of the UEFA Nations League this Sunday in the match against Liechtenstein, on condition that Latvia, which has 12 points, loses to Andorra away.
