The investigation into abuse of office, passive corruption and filing of a fraudulent return against the suspended prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo was completed, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said that it goes to the release from detention of convict Veaceslav Platon and illegal dropping of charges against this. The damage caused to the national public budget by such acts was estimated at 869 million lei. Also, he accepted undue gains and benefits totaling 63 million lei from Veaceslav Platon, which represents passive corruption.
In the property and personal interests statement, Alexandr Stoianoglo intentionally didn’t indicate the fact that his wife starting with January 5, 2021 has been one of the effective beneficiaries of a company registered in Ukraine.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office continues the investigation in two criminal cases started against Alexandr Stoianoglo over abuse of office as the ex-chairman of the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order and over unjust enrichment.
Alexandr Stoianoglo, who is now under judicial control, was arrested last October. Earlier, it was completed the investigation into the case of abuse of power. The suspended prosecutor general denies any wrongdoing.
