23 Peace Corps volunteers in the Republic of Moldova have taken the oath and will spend the next two years in communities across the country. According to the US Embassy in Chisinau, they will teach English, promote health education, and support community and organizational development projects, reports IPN.
At the oath-taking ceremony, the US Chargé d’Affaires in the Republic of Moldova, Nick Pietrowicz, was also present. He mentioned that volunteers contribute to the creation of cultural ties between the United States and the Republic of Moldova.
After a week of orientation, the volunteers lived for ten weeks with host families in the Ialoveni district, to familiarize themselves with local life and communities.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research, Valentina Olaru, emphasized the contribution of volunteers to the development of education, especially in rural areas. According to her, their activity will provide students with greater access to communication, knowledge, international opportunities and career prospects.
After taking the oath, the 23 volunteers head towards their host communities, where they will carry out their activities for the next two years.
