More obligations for taxi administrators

The administrators of taxies will be obliged to inform the travellers about the availability of auxiliary services, such as child car seats or transfer of pets, and about the charges levied for such additional services. This is provided in a bill that was given a first reading by Parliament, IPN reports.

The authors of the bill suggest that all the holders of taxi platforms and applications should be registered legally on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, while the systems should be used only through the agency of the transport operators that provides taxi services.

In order to supervise those who provide such services, the platform owners will quarterly submit the list of all their vehicles and taxi drivers to the National Road Transport Agency.

The bill sponsors also propose eliminating the obligation for the drivers to possess the certificate of professional competence on them as this could be checked digitally, as in the case of the driver’s license and vehicle registration certificate. It is proposed that the period of validity of the certificate of professional competence should be extended from three to five years.

The draft law is to be given a second reading by Parliament.
