The President of the European Council Charles Michel on May 4 will pay a visit to the Republic of Moldova where he will meet with President Maia Sandu. It will happen after Charles Michel on May 3 will travel to Alexandroupolis in Greece to take part in the inauguration of the start of the construction of a new LNG terminal, which will improve gas supply and infrastructure in the whole South Eastern European region, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the European Council, the Alexandroupolis floating LNG terminal will help to achieve the EU’s goal to phase out its dependency on Russian gas as soon as possible. The project will offer new sources and routes of natural gas supply and enhance the security of supply in Greece, Bulgaria and other countries in the region.
The Moldovan authorities haven’t yet made public the program of Charles Michel’s visit to the Republic of Moldova.
