Searches were conducted at the Comrat mayor’s office in a case of abuse of office. A deputy mayor and a specialist of the mayor’s office are suspected of having favored three business entities in the public procurement procedure, IPN reports, with reference to the National Anticorruption Center.
According to prosecutors, the business entities signed contracts to the value of 135 million lei with the mayor’s office in 2019-2022. Decision makers of the mayor’s office knew that all the companies are managed by the same family, use the same equipment and the personnel indicated in the bids is the same for the three companies.
The investigative measures go on. All the suspects are investigated outside remand. The investigation is conducted by the South Office of the National Anticorruption Center. The Center noted that any person is considered innocent until a final and irrevocable judgment is passed.
