Italy is facing a strike announced by the unions of employees from the international airports of Rome Fiumicino and Rome Ciampino, in the local time interval of 12:00-16:00. The unionists are dissatisfied with the renewal of the collective contract in the aviation sector, which will come into effect on January 1, 2026, a fact that leaves a period of 36 months without economic recognition for employees, reports IPN.
Due to the four-hour strike, disruptions to airport services, check-in procedures, and security controls are possible, as well as air traffic disturbances, with potential flight delays.
Several countries, including Romania, have warned their citizens who are, transit, or intend to travel to Italy, that due to the strike, the flight schedule could be disrupted. Travelers are urged to periodically check the websites of the airports, as well as those of the airlines, to be informed in advance about any delays, cancellations, or flight changes.
Romanian citizens can request consular assistance by calling the Consulate General of Romania in Rome at +39 06 835 233 44.
