Three other suspects have been detained in the Petic case following searches at a several addresses.
One of the suspects was a Ministry of Interior official at the time of the alleged crime, and another one is a former functionary at the State Chancellery.
Two other suspects were previously charged in this case. Both have been released from pre-trial detention.
An anti-graft activist, Gheorghe Petic was jailed in 2018 on rape charges. He was later acquitted after it was found that he had been framed by the infamous Directorate 5, a political police force that has since been disbanded.
