Valeriu Pașa and Petru Macovei will be suggested for the post of members of the Board of the Center for Strategic Communication and Combating of Disinformation. The candidates were selected following a competition organized by the Parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and the media, IPN reports.
Twelve people filed to take part in the contest. Seven candidates were admitted to the interview and Valeriu Pașa and Petru Macovei were accepted by a majority of votes of commission members.
The Center for Strategic Communication and Combating of Disinformation was created in July this year and is led by Ana Revenco, former Minister of Internal Affairs. The mission of the institution is to strengthen and improve interinstitutional efforts in the fight against disinformation, manipulation of information and coordinated actions to spread messages, narratives, communications that pose a danger or can jeopardize the achievement of national interests.
The Center’s Board consists of 11 members. Two of them, representatives of civil society, are selected at a contest by the Parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and the media and are confirmed by Parliament.
