Cristina Gherasimov: Moldova, determined to continue reforms and advance on the European path

Moldova remains firmly determined to continue the reforms and to advance in its European journey. The statement belongs to the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, and was made in Nicosia, during the informal meeting of the General Affairs Council, reports IPN.

Cristina Gherasimov stated that for Moldova, these reforms mean stronger institutions, more trust from citizens, and a society better prepared to face external challenges. The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated that in recent years, the Republic of Moldova has advanced in international rankings targeting the fight against corruption, press freedom, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

According to the official, discussions with ministers for European affairs from member states of the European Union and candidate countries focused on EU expansion, in a complex geopolitical context. Also, participants addressed the role of rule of law reforms in strengthening European security and resilience.

The informal meeting of the General Affairs Council took place at the invitation of the Cypriot presidency of the EU Council and brought together ministers for European affairs from member states and candidate countries.
