Almost 700 employees from the Moldova Railway remain on forced leave for another month. The general director of the company, Serghei Cotelinic, told IPN that they are expected to return to work in May.

The CFM Director mentioned that the extension of technical unemployment was determined by the sudden increase in diesel prices. According to him, the additional expenses associated with the fuel price hike led to the necessity of this measure.

Also, the head of CFM stated that on the southern direction of the railway network, some railway sections will undergo repairs for two to three weeks, according to the information received from colleagues in Ukraine. During this period, the freight transport planned for April will not be able to be carried out. After the restoration of railway traffic, employees will begin to be reintegrated into their usual activities.

According to him, the number of those on technical unemployment has dropped from 1,200 people, at the beginning of the period, to approximately 600-700 employees.

The forced leave at the Moldova Railway began on December 22. During the technical unemployment, employees benefit from 55% of their salary.
