A former real estate agent was fined 150,000 lei for six episodes of influence peddling. He gave bribes to employees of the Public Services Agency, through another person, to issue documents without observing the legal procedures and without the physical presence of the person involved, IPN reports, with reference to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the evidence accumulated during over two years, in 2021, in order to receive a profit from real estate transactions in the interests of individuals, the defendant tried to quickly obtain the necessary documents for the sale-purchase of real estate, such as the registration of the right of ownership, mortgage, etc. The man transmitted money, through the agency of another person, to employees of the Cadaster Department of the Public Services Agency. The amounts varied between 1,200 and 2,400 lei.
Although the defendant pleaded not guilty during the trial that lasted for one year and seven months, the court found him guilty.
The sentence can be challenged in the Centru Court of Appeals within 15 days.
