Family Day activities aimed at promoting inclusive and sustainable policies

The International Day of Families will be marked on Thursday, May 15, throughout the country through various activities aimed at promoting inclusive and sustainable family policies. The events, which are stipulated in a plan approved by the Cabinet, are focused on social inclusion, work-life balance, and solidarity between generations, IPN reports.

According to the approved document, the central and local authorities, public institutions and state agencies in the course of May will stage activities and measures aimed at highlighting the multidimensional role of the family in contemporary society.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection will act as the coordinator and will monitor the implementation of the activities at national level. Among the activities dedicated to the Day of Families are the thematic event “Bring your child to work”, the “We grow together” campaign, launched together with UN Women, and also the scientific-practical conference “Strengthening family resilience in the context of sustainable development”.

The event “Strengthening intergenerational relationships within the family. Grandparents with grandchildren at the graduation ceremony of the University of the Third Age”. There will also be roundtable meetings, thematic workshops, local information campaigns and drawing competitions, etc.

“Decent work, work-life balance and solidarity between generations are essential aspects when we talk about inclusive and sustainable family policies. The progress of family policies, in the context of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, will depend on how well we integrate these aspects into national development plans so that no family in a vulnerable situation is left behind,” said Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu.

The Republic of Moldova has been celebrating the International Day of Families since 2010.
