A 36-year-old man from Ungheni district was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he had beaten his father to death, IPN reports.
According to the Ungheni Prosecutor’s Office, it happened on the evening of November 10, 2024, in a village in Ungheni district. The defendant, while under the influence of alcohol, had a dispute with his father aged 58. He punched him for several times, causing serious injuries. The assaulted man died as a result of the suffered injuries.
The Ungheni Court recently pronounced the sentence, finding the defendant guilty of domestic violence that resulted in the death of the victim. He admitted his guilt in court.
The Prosecutor’s Office reminds that domestic violence is a serious crime and encourages the citizens who are victims of or witnesses to such cases to contact the competent authorities.
