The wind wreaked havoc in the capital city last night. Teams of the Green Spaces Association dealt with the damage caused by the strong wind.
According to the municipal enterprise, the workers intervened on six addresses in Chisinau to remove the broken branches and a chestnut tree downed by the wind.
Victor Nikitus, press officer of the Green Spaces Association, said that a car was damaged by a broken branch.
On social media, users publish images of hail and wind damage caused in a number of localities in the north of the country. Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Liliana Puscasu said that no requests for rescue teams to intervene have been registered so far.
Drivers are urged to park their vehicles only in specially set up places, not to park near trees or installations that can be downed by the wind.
On Monday, the State Weather Service issued a warning of atmospheric instability. Torrential rain, in parts heavy (15-20 l/m2), accompanied by hail, thunder and lighting, was forecast.
