The European Commission presented on Wednesday the European Union budget for the period of 2028-2034, worth nearly two trillion euros, reports IPN.
“Almost two trillion euros, or 1.26% of the EU’s average gross national income between 2028 and 2034, will support Europe’s ambition to be independent and secure, to prosper in the next decade,” states a press release from the European Commission.
The presented plan remodels the structure of the EU budget into three pillars: 865 billion euros for agriculture, fisheries, cohesion and social policy, 410 billion for competitiveness, research and innovation, and 200 billion euros allocated for external action, of which 100 billion are budgeted for supporting Ukraine, according to Euronews.
At the same time, Romania will be allocated 60 billion euros, according to European Commissioner Roxana Mînzatu, cited by the Romanian The proposal will be negotiated with the European Parliament and the EU Council, before its final adoption. The budget must come into effect in January 2028.
