19,400 persons crossed Moldova’s borders on first day of new year

There is heavy traffic on the state borders on the first days of 2023. Almost 11,000 persons left the country. The Chisinau International Airport, the Leușeni and Sculeni frontier posts are among the most crowded border crossing points. To ease traffic, the number of customs officers was increased and the reverse procedure to direct vehicles to counterflow lanes is applied at road frontier posts, IPN reports, quoting the Border Police.

As many as 19,400 persons crossed Moldova’s borders on the first day of the new year. Out of these, 10,938 left the Republic of Moldova.

The crossings by foreigners totaled 12,412, while the crossings by Moldovans – 6,987.

The crossings through the frontier posts with Romania came to 9,854, through those with Ukraine – to 3,585, while through the Chisinau International Airport – to 5,961.

The Border Police call on the citizens who chose to cross the border with Romania through the Leușeni and Sculeni customs post to go to the Costești and Cahul customs post, which are less crowded.

Before setting off, travellers should consult the Border Police’s Green Line 022 259 717 or check the situation at border crossing points online on http://border.gov.md/camere-web.

According to the Border Police, 218 foreigners and 70 vehicles were denied access to Moldova during the last week of 2022.
