More than 3 million people died worldwide to date due to complications caused by the novel coronavirus. The virus claimed the largest number of lives in the U.S. – over 579,000 people, IPN reports.
Brazil reported over 369,000 deaths, Mexico – more than 211,000, while India – over 175,000.
The death toll in the UK stands at 127,000, in Italy at 116,000, in Russia at 104,000.
The number of infections in the over 200 countries affected by the novel coronavirus exceeded 140.5 million.
China, where the pandemic started at the end of 2019, reported 90,400 cases of COVID-19 and almost 5,000 deaths by now.
Moldova so far has got nearly 244,800 cases of infection and 5,521 casualties due to COVID-19.
