Light music singer Iurie Sadovnic passed away. His wife found him dead with the legally held gun nearby. The Botanica Police Inspectorate was notified of this at 2:21pm. An operational team and a medical examiner were at the scene immediately, IPN reports.
The police established that the 69-year-old singer shot himself in the head. No signs of violence were found on the body, said Natalia Stati, press officer of the Chisinau Police Division.
The singer also left a death note, whose content wasn’t made public.
Iurie Sadovnic was awarded the title of Emeritus Artist of the MSSR (1984), the Civic Merit Medal (1993), “Mihai Eminescu” Medal (2000), the title of People’s Artist of the Republic of Moldova (2011) and the Order of the Republic (2015), which is the highest state award.
